Chinese Consulate Genenral Held the Reception
in Celebration of Chinese New Year and Marking Mr. Liu Kan's Assumption of the Office

On January 18th, Chinese Consulate General in Lagos held the reception in celebration of Chinese New Year and marking Mr. Liu Kan's assumption of the office. The representatives from Lagos State and Ogun State governments, Deputy Speaker of the Lagos Assembly House, Chief officials from Federal Government in Lagos and friendly people from Lagos government, local commercial and financial sectors, education circle and think-tank, press and media, representatives from Consular Corps in Lagos, Chinese community and companies, Central media from China, about a total of 200 people attended this reception.

Consul General Liu Kan reviewed bilateral and economic relations, personnel and cultural exchanges between China and Nigeria in recent years. As the fifth Chinese Consul General in Lagos, he, together with Chinese communities, companies and colleagues from Chinese Consulate-General in Lagos, would continue to extend the friendship and cooperation between two countries with assistance from Nigerian governments and friends.

Deputy Speaker of Assembly House of Lagos State Mr. Kalawole, President of West Africa and Nigeria Overseas Chinese Joint Association Mr. Dong Rui'e delivered warm speeches respectively. They looked forward to and had confidence in that Consul General Liu would make a great contribution in his term to the friendship and cooperation between China and Nigeria.

Volunteer teachers from Confucius Institute in Lagos University performed Chinese traditional "spring-greeting dance" in the reception. Both guests and hosts renewed their friendship and welcomed Chinese New Year together in a happy and joyful atmosphere.
