Chinese Government Aid West Africa tackle Ebola

Recently, the outbreak of the Ebola in such three West Africa countries as Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone poses a serious threat to the local people's health and life. The nations act quickly after the outbreak by mobilizing social forces, local and international resources to fight against the spread of epidemic, trying their best to minimize the loss of life of local people.

On August 7, Chinese government has decided to provide a total value of 30 million Yuan (5 million USD) emergency humanitarian aid for the three Ebola-stricken West African countries to help them deal with the common threat against human beings, which is the second batch of emergency aid dedicated by Chinese government to tackling Ebola outbreak. The humanitarian supplies are mainly protective clothing and gears, monitoring devices, sprays, drugs and other medical equipment, and will be shipped to the destination by the chartered flight on August 10.

A friend in need is a friend indeed. Chinese and African peoples are good brothers, good friends and good partners, who grow together by sharing weal and woe, and always support and help each other . The Chinese government and people will not forget that the African people always reach out helping hands to offer timely help and generous support when Chinese people met with difficulties. After the Sichuan Wenchuan earthquake in 2008 and Qinghai Yushu earthquake in 2010, the African countries such as Liberia, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Congo and Equatorial Guinea provided China with donation in spite of the fact that they themselves are not wealthy.

At present, the Ebola outbreak continues to spread, especially in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea. The health and life safety of the people in the above countries are facing serious threats and big challenges. The three governments, the United Nations and the World Health Organization appeal the international community to lend a helping hand to provide emergency aid as soon as possible. There are also nearly 20,000 Chinese citizens working and living in the countries. The Chinese government is very much concerned about the health of local people as well as Chinese there. At this moment, Chinese people are willingly to overcome difficulties together with the African people.

Time is life. Chinese government deems it obligatory to support African countries to tackle Ebola epidemic. Besides the above-mentioned emergency supplies, medical teams sent by Chinese government in these countries are actively participating in treating of Ebola patients, regardless of their personal safety, making great contribution to the epidemic prevention and control. The Chinese government provided disease prevention and control treatment materials worth of 1 million Yuan for the three countries in May, which is put into use in the first scene of quarantine and treatment of Ebola patients.

The Ebola outbreak in the West African countries is a common threat faced by the whole international community in the domain of non-traditional security. Chinese government strongly appeals the international community to take positive action to provide emergency aid, hand in hand to support the affected countries to overcome the difficulties. The Chinese government will actively coordinate with the United Nations, the World Health Organization and the relevant countries, and continue to provide assistance according to the development of epidemic and the requests of the nations concerned.
